The mission of The Coastal Side is straightforward:
To help more people explore our oceans, lakes, and streams and instill a deep appreciation for these valuable ecosystems.
The coast is a magical place where land, air, and water meet – creating an incredible environment for adventure and wildlife. It’s in this environment that we like to play.
If you love fishing, diving, kayaking and exploring everything our waterways have to offer, then this is the place for you.
Being out in nature not only opens you up to new and exciting experiences, but it also gives you an appreciation for how important these environments are to preserve. We believe in responsible fishing and being good environmental stewards so that future generations get to enjoy nature’s incredible bounties.
Our goal is to create useful and relevant information, guides and reviews as well as foster a community of like-minded outdoors enthusiasts. Hopefully, you’ll come along for the ride!
The Coastal Side Editors:
I’ve loved being in the outdoors for as long as I can remember.
I grew up fishing, canoeing, and camping throughout the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. This was an incredible place to explore the outdoors and instilled in me a lifelong appreciation for our waterways. It’s what lead me to start this site and share my passions.
I caught my first Rainbow Trout when I was 8 and have been fascinated with all types of fishing ever since. Even though I’m passionate, I’m no expert. I’m always looking to learn new things. More recently, diving and spearfishing have become serious passions of mine.
I’ve been lucky enough to travel extensively throughout Central and South America – which gave me the opportunity to surf, paddleboard and fish in some incredible places.
Nowadays you can find me writing about my passions or (preferably!) preparing for my next outdoor adventure.
